Any thing I am not aware of needs to be learned, so keep mouth shut and head down; anything that I’ve accomplished is trivial and not worth mentioning, so again keep the f**king mouth shut.
This mindset, unconsciously clung to by many people, is baked deeply in their way of thinking. Especially if one comes from a background that put much more emphasis on being correct instead of seeking truth via winding paths. Students get favored because they can write down every step flawlessly to solve a differential equation, not because they know who can do this job or how strategically important it is to do the job. Yet it is far from the workable way to live in a loquacious and fumbling atmosphere.
